Sunlight hurts her

The New Paper, 3 May 2016 - Article featured SP’s Diploma in Maritime Business graduand, Lee Hwee Leng, who suffers from Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), an autoimmune condition that can affect any part of the body and can be fatal. Her condition is such that she cannot be exposed to sunlight, which can result in skin rash or internal organ swelling and damage. In spite of her condition, Hwee Leng loves the ocean so much that she decided to pursue her passion and work in the maritime industry. She shared how she is looking to work onshore to avoid exposure to the sun.
