Teacher saw his leadership potential

17 Mar 2015

The New Paper, 17 Mar 2015 - The article features a recipient of Singapore Polytechnic’s Model Student Award. Goh Jia Hui, who is a final year Aeronautical Engineering student, was a rebellious student who did badly at school during his primary and secondary school years. He turned over a new leaf when his secondary school form teacher, Mrs Samantha Ong, appointed him the assistant class monitor, where he had to maintain discipline in his class.  Mrs Ong also encouraged him to focus on his studies, and Jia Hui enrolled in SP after completing his ITE education. He has a GPA of 3.94 and has applied for the Singapore Armed Forces Overseas Scholarship, hoping to attend Imperial College London to study aeronautical engineering.
