Three new Earn and Learn Programmes launched for the Maritime sector

StraitsTimes.com, 24 Jun 2016 - Three Earn and Learn Programmes (ELP) for the Maritime sector has been launched by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). The three ELPs for seafaring deck officers, marine engineers and port operations officers were jointly developed by SP, MPA and the Workforce Development Agency. The ELPs aim to give fresh graduates from local polytechnics a head-start in their maritime careers by deepening their skills through facilitated training, in-house structured programmes and mentorship with industry partners. SP’s Diploma in Nautical Studies graduate Christina Tan Shi Hui was mentioned as one of the graduates who has signed up for the seafaring officers ELP. Christina is currently a 4th officer with shipping company Pacific International Lines. Similar story was reported in Lianhe Zaobao.
