Xinyao contest back with new music programme

The Straits Times – Life!, 15 Feb 2017 - The annual National Schools Xinyao Singing and Songwriting Competition is back for its third edition this year. The competition aims to promote Mandarin and an appreciation of xinyao, a genre of local Mandarin folk-pop music popular in the 1980s and 1990s. The contest is open to students in secondary schools, junior colleges, polytechnics and ITEs. The finals will be held in SP on Jul 22 this year. Photo used in the article featured SP students Joyce Seah and Lim Wei Xiang. They were the winners of last year’s competition and are from the Diploma in Food Science & Technology and Diploma in Business Innovation & Design respectively.
