Dedicated drone flying area opens at Pandan Reservoir, amid rise in numbers of registered drones and offences

17 Jul 2022

Article reported the official opening of a dedicated drone flying area at Pandan Reservoir on 17 July 2022 by Transport Minister S Iswaran.  Recreational drone pilots can fly their unmanned aircraft over a 400m by 400m square area over the water without needing a permit.  The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) added that regular programmes and workshops would be held at the reservoir to educate the public on safe and responsible flying.  Prevailing rules will still apply at the site.  As part of a soft launch last month, the CAAS held five beginner drone workshops for 50 students from NP, SP and SUTD.
