Enhanced government subsidies encourages more students from low income families to read medicine

SP’s Diploma in Biomedical Science graduate Goh Wei Sheng, who is currently in his fourth year at the National University of Singapore’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, shared how the subsidies will help with his finances. Wei Sheng shared how he aspired to be a doctor during his poly days, but was afraid of the high course fees for a medical degree. After securing a spot in medical school, Wei Sheng applied for various bursaries and scholarships to help his family’s financial situation. He opined that the enhanced subsidies will allow more students from various backgrounds to study medicine.
