SP, Singtel and Ericsson has opened Singapore’s first live 5G facility at SP’s Dover Road campus. The facility, named 5G Garage, will serve as a training centre, test bed and ideation lab to develop Singapore’s 5G ecosystem and drive the adoption of 5G by enterprises in their digital transformations. SP’s Deputy Director of the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Dr Lim Joo Ghee, opined that the collaboration will benefit around 250 final-year students from the Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Diploma in Computer Engineering as they will get to learn about 5G wireless technology and how to harness and apply it. Dr Lim also shared that this collaboration will equip students with the skills and knowledge of upcoming technologies and will empower them to contribute to the industry when they graduate. Newsclip also showed the SP Secure drone system, the pipe climbing robot and the Augmented Reality training simulator developed by SP students. Similar story was reported on Capital 95.8.
