Huawei, Singapore Poly launch AI and cloud services course; to train 120 participants in next 2 years

Technology giant Huawei, through its ICT Academy, and local institute SP announced the launch of an industry certification-based course in artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud services on 20 May. The course is part of the SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme in AI and Cloud Services offered at SP, and supported by SkillsFuture Singapore. Dr Lim Joo Ghee, acting director of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at SP, told The Business Times that the first run of the programme will commence with a class of 15, with the goal of conducting 2 classes in 2022. The polytechnic then hopes to expand 3 classes in 2023 and 2024 "in tandem with industry demand and individuals' aspiration", said Dr Lim, adding: "In total, SP aims to train up to 120 participants in the next 2 years." Also quoted was Georgina Phua, deputy principal (development) of SP, who said: “(SP and Huawei’s) common vision to attract and retrain learners with the latest ICT technologies and knowledge will enable Singapore to grow a robust ICT talent base to power and shape the digital economy across sectors such as manufacturing, logistics and transportation in the future.
