More Chinese restaurants having kid’s meal to gain children’s favour

Several Chinese restaurants and eateries in Singapore are tapping on the children market by providing better dining experience for them through toys, gifts and food that they like. SP Digital Marketing and Branding lecturer Adeline Ho Hui Mei said that while western brands such as McDonald’s have started targeting the children market a long time ago, it is still not too late for Chinese brands to start doing so. She suggested that for restaurants to carve out a market for themselves, they have to be innovative in their marketing to gain a greater market share. For example, she said restaurants can use animation or game characters children like to build trust with the children and beat their competition. Ms Ho also reminded restaurants not to overlook adult customers’ needs as they are the main consumer group.
