09 Nov 2018

Article featured SP Diploma in Optometry (DOPT) student, Tan Limin and her oath to deliver best-quality eye and vision care during the inaugural White Coat Ceremony. Limin’s grandparents had eye conditions and from then on, she aspired to become an optometrist to help those who need eye care. Last month, in conjunction with World Sight Day on 11 October 2018, Limin and 21 other SP student optometrists conducted free eye screening for 64 elderly beneficiaries from St Luke’s ElderCare and Singapore Amalgamated Services Co-operative Organisation Ltd (SASCO). Elderly beneficiaries who needed spectacles also received a free pair. The free screening service tested for common eye conditions affecting the elderly including refractive error, cataract, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
