Article highlighted that non-edible household items such as toothbrushes, bedsheets, bras and bicycle helmets have limited shelf lives, beyond which there may be hygiene and safety issues. Mr Amos Tan, senior lecturer in marketing and retail at SP’s Business School, cautioned that such advice dispensed by manufacturers should be taken with a pinch of salt as it is unclear if they are doing so with profit margins in mind.
