Skills Ignition SG initiative receives overwhelming response

Article featured SP’s Diploma in Business Information Technology alumnus, Muhammad Khairunnizam Lukman, who is among the 3,000 participants of the Skills Ignition SG programme by Google and a few government agencies. Khairunnizam, who graduated over a decade ago did not pursue a career in IT. However, when he was let go from his corporate position in March due to the pandemic and failed to secure another job, Khairunnizam decided to upgrade his skills and return to the IT industry. Over 2,400 mid-career professionals have successfully signed up for the programme, which will earn them a digital marketing or cloud technology certification from Google. Participants will go through a 6-month vocational training programme, or undergo a 3-month vocational training followed by 6 months of ‘on-the-job training’ with Google or one of the host companies.
