Transforming architecture

15 Sep 2018

Article featured the Parasite Architecture exhibition organised by SP, which explores adaptive reuse of underutilised rooftop spaces in three older malls - People's Park Complex, Parklane Shopping Mall and Bukit Timah Shopping Centre - using the concept of parasite architecture. Parasite architecture, a growing trend around the world, seeks to enhance a building by adding new structures to it. On display are 17 works by SP’s Diploma in Architecture students. Ms Su Huiping, lecturer at SP’s School of Architecture and the Built Environment, shared that parasite architecture is about adding new components that support the main building and existing tenants. The exhibition runs from Sept 28 to Oct 10 at The URA Centre. (The Straits Times, pD2)
