Students from the Diploma in Optometry (DOPT) demonstrated their strong communi/ty spirit through two vision screening initiatives in July 2026, bringing eye care services to those who need them most.
At the Hindu Endowments Board–Mediacorp Health Festival 2026 on 19 July 2026, Year 1 to Year 3 DOPT students volunteered alongside faculty members and healthcare partners to provide vision screenings for about 90 members of the public. The event gave students valuable hands-on experience while supporting preventive eye care in the community.
“This event allowed me the opportunity to give back to the community in such a meaningful way; I’m proud to be a part of it and hope that I can continue to contribute in the future”

On 25 July 2026, DOPT partnered with Rotary Singapore to host a vision screening for migrant workers at the Singapore Polytechnic Optometry Centre. A total of 48 workers received complimentary eye examinations. To further support those in need, students dispensed 23 pairs of recycled spectacles collected through DOPT's spectacle recycling initiative, helping to improve access to vision correction while reducing waste.
“Grateful to have played a part in bringing clearer vision to the migrant workers community. It was a rewarding experience for me that reinforces the purpose behind the optometry journey.”
