In collaboration with SIA Engineering Company Limited, this course will equip participants with the basic aerospace maintenance knowledge and skillsets, for entry into aerospace maintenance workforce in Singapore.


Course Objective

The objective of the course is to equip participants with the necessary aviation maintenance skillset to contribute to the aviation maintenance workforce such as aircraft cabin technicians, aircraft technicians, aircraft component workshop technicians etc. 

The role of aircraft maintenance technician requires a basic understanding of how various aircraft systems function and its relevant maintenance procedures and practices. 

This training course in aircraft maintenance also equips participants with basic knowledge in aircraft systems and aircraft maintenance practices, which in turn prepares the participant for the role of an aircraft technician or aircraft cabin technician.

Course Outline

By the end of the course, participants will be able to: 

1. Describe the working principles of landing-gear/brake systems, flight control systems, air conditioning and pressurisation systems, air environmental control systems, fire protection, oxygen, ice and rain protection systems, fuel systems and water and waste systems.
2. Explain the principles of fluid power, pumps/compressors and its components.
3. Identify aircraft requirements and maintenance practices as stipulated by Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, CAAS.
4. Use the relevant maintenance practices and procedures to perform aircraft specific maintenance tasks.
5. Explain the importance of maintaining proper aircraft documentation.

Minimum Requirements

• Diploma qualification from recognised institutions OR
• Higher Nitec with GPA ≥ 1.5 OR Nitec with GPA 1.0 and at least 1 year of work experience OR
• Nitec with GPA ≥ 2.5 OR Nitec with GPA 2.0 and at least 1 year of work experience OR
• Participants will be subjected to an entry assessment/interview if they do not meet the above minimum entry requirement

2. Certificate of Completion in Aircraft Maintenance Practices

Upon passing the assessment of each certificate, participants will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.
Upon completion of all the certificates, participants will be awarded a Certificate of Completion for the SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme (SCTP).

With the skills and knowledge gained from this programme, participants who have completed the course will be able to take on new challenges in the Aviation industry with job roles as follows:

  • Technician (Mechanical)

Suitable for

All Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents who are looking for training opportunities to transit to a new sector or job role. Both unemployed and employed individuals can participate in SCTP, as long as they can fulfil training commitments, including minimum attendance requirements and passing of assessments.

As per SSG’s policy, the GST payable for all funding-eligible applicants is calculated based on prevailing GST rate after baseline funding subsidy of 70%

Singaporeans aged 25 years and above may use SkillsFuture Credit balance to offset respective course fees.
