What You Will Learn

This interactive course aims to empower early childhood educators working with children from birth to 4-years-old by providing practical tools and strategies to nurture their natural curiosity in exploring, discovering, and problem-solving through sensory experiences. With a focus on the process of creations and problem-solving through sensory experiences. Focusing on creation and problem-solving processes, participants will explore how to use process art and loose parts play to encourage sensory engagement, spark creativity, and help children recognise patterns and relationships in their environment. Through the hands-on experiences, participants will be able to understand how sensory experiences, such as touch, sight, as well as smell foster curiosity and creativity, supporting children's cognitive, emotional, and physical development.

Participants will understand how to design and facilitate process art and early numeracy experiences that emphasise exploration, creativity, and problem-solving.

By end of this course, participants will:
  1. Identify various art techniques and materials suitable for Process Art and Early Numeracy activities.
  2. Describe how sensory experiences support children’s development in early childhood.
  3. Apply the 3Rs (Respectful, Responsive, Reciprocal interactions) and art vocabulary during early numeracy and Process art facilitation.
  4. Modify Process Art and early numeracy experiences to promote child-directed learning.
