Interactive Traffic Generator & Responder

The Interactive Traffic Generator & Responder (ITGR) is a testbed which is intended for an upcoming Cyber Security Infrastructure Configuration (CIC) module that teaches DISM students to setup, employ and manage firewalls to defend enterprise network architecture. Students would also learn more in-depth about network protocols and implement features to safeguard the network and prevent security intrusion.

ITGR involves three main parts: Traffic Generator (TG), Traffic Responder (TR) and Palo Alto Firewall. This testbed system incorporates Scapy – a powerful interactive packet manipulation program - that allows for customisations when sending and receiving packets. By using the ITGR, students would be able to send normal or malicious traffic between the TG and TR; analyse the traffic; as well as configure the firewall to allow or block certain traffic. The increased interactivity will allow students to understand network infrastructure more easily.
