A specially tailored inspection for each ship

The Straits Times, 8 Sep 2014 - The sixth of a 10-part editorial series by the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore profiled people whose work is related to the registry of ships. SP’s Diploma in Mechanical Engineering graduate, Mr Quek Chee Meng, was profiled in an article. He is currently a marine surveyor with British organisation Lloyd’s Register, which sets safety and environmental standards for ships. Mr Quek shared how he joined the Maritime industry after a stint with the Singapore Armed Forces as well as the joys and hard work that goes into a specialised inspection for every ship that dry docks at Sembawang Shipyard.
