Seeing double over similar shop names

04 Sep 2014

MyPaper, 3 Sept 2014 - A recent case of two shops with similar names, located near each other in a shopping mall, caused confusion amongst shoppers. SP Diploma in Business Administration lecturer Sarah Lim weighed her opinion on the case, mentioning that the shops do not have any firm grounds unless the one party has copyrighted the shop design or trademarked the name of the company. She also added that it would be difficult for the shopping mall management to enforce changes on either shop, especially so in a strata title mall.
