Interview with Jolene Ong

Jolene Ong from the Institute of Financial Literacy, a collaboration between MoneySense and SP International, shared her definition for financial freedom. She advised consumers to consider their personal values and goals while keeping an open definition of financial freedom. Jolene also shared tips on how to budget and keep an emergency stash of savings, while balancing ‘material enjoyment’ in our daily lives. She added those who are pursuing financial freedom have come to realise that early financial planning is beneficial to their family and themselves. She explained that striking a balance between treating ourselves and enjoying financial freedom is a learning journey. Jolene also emphasised that we should not be discouraged by setbacks along the way.
