Interview with SP Chairman Janet Ang

26 Jun 2023

SP Board of Governors Chairman Janet Ang uses her industry network and influence to support youths. She shared in the interview that her mother is her idol, and as a mentor to the younger generation, she shares lessons that she had learnt from her mother. Janet, who is a mentor, paid for the attendance of several learners under her to the International Women Summit’s charity banquet. She shared that her approach towards mentoring is not textbook, but through sharing and introducing them to other exposures. Janet became a Nominated Member of Parliament in 2021, and has been actively involved in the industry and community. As a member of various important councils, Janet focuses on grooming young leaders and strongly believes that managers must be good mentors to their staff. To keep up to date with the thinking of the younger generation, Janet engages with SP students through dialogues to hear their feedback and opinions. She believes that connecting with the labour market after graduating will be the biggest challenge for students, and the only way to get them ready is to provide them with real-life experiences. She aims for all students to complete internships and industrial attachments during their polytechnic years so that they have a level playing field when they apply for jobs.
