What You Will Learn

This course is a collaborative endeavour brought to you by Singapore Polytechnic, School of Business in partnership with the Institute for Human Resource Professionals (IHRP). It equips Human Resource (HR) professionals and First-Line Managers playing a direct role in ensuring compliance with fair employment standards while fostering inclusive, high-performing teams.

They will be equipped with the skills to operationalise fairness and inclusivity in everyday workplace practices. Two key areas will be focused on:
  • Fair Hiring – Applying merit-based, transparent recruitment processes aligned to the Workplace Fairness Act (2025).
  • Fair and Inclusive Practices – Embedding inclusivity into people management and decision-making to strengthen trust, motivation, and engagement.

Participants can apply for a IHRP Skills Badge upon completion, underscoring their expertise and commitment to building fair and inclusive workplaces.

By end of this course, participants will be able to:
  1. Describe the principles of fair hiring and inclusive practices, including the Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices (TGFEP).
  2. Apply skills-first and merit-based assessment methods to shortlist as well as objectively select candidates.
  3. Use fair and competency-based criteria for assessing and documenting hiring decisions with audit-ready evidence.
  4. Identify and address hiring, team interactions, and decision-making bias using evidence-based observation and intervention techniques.
  5. Demonstrate inclusive communication strategies that foster psychological safety and trust across diverse teams.
  6. Implement equitable team practices in task allocation, recognition, and development opportunities to ensure fairness.
  7. Timely and appropriately recognise and escalate fairness or discrimination issues, while objectively documenting.
