SCHOOL OVERVIEW

The School of Chemical & Life Sciences (CLS) is often known as the most colourful school in SP. This is because we offer a wide range of courses to train technologists for the following key industries: food, chemicals, biopharmaceuticals and healthcare.

With a team of over 150 qualified and experienced academic and technical support staff, CLS offers 1 common science programme, 6 full-time diplomas, 3 advanced diplomas, 4 specialist diplomas and 2 part-time diplomas to a student intake of about 650 new students per year.

Additionally, CLS has excellent academic & industry links both locally and regionally. Course curricula are always kept up-to-date based on feedback from the industries, universities and past graduates. Many of our staff also serve in external professional committees and their technical expertise is typically deployed in consultancy or applied R&D work.

Student training is supported by state-of-the-art facilities housing sophisticated equipment which provide students with the necessary hands-on experience to meet industry needs. CLS students are also given the opportunity to acquire relevant experience through industrial or clinical attachments and through industry-based projects. As a result, CLS graduates are well prepared for working life and are highly sought after.
