Biomedical Science students at the 15th ASEAN Clinical Laboratory Sciences Conference

15 Jul 2015

This year’s ASEAN Clinical Laboratory Sciences Conference, organised by the Singapore Association of Medical Laboratory Sciences (SAMLS), was held at The Academia from 21st – 23rd Jun 2015. About 40 Biomedical Science (DBS) students from Singapore Polytechnic volunteered to help out during their vacation, managing administrative and logistic matters to facilitate the smooth running of the event.

Distinguished guests and speakers from neighbouring countries gathered at this conference to share and learn new advances in various disciplines of clinical laboratory sciences. Laboratory managers, scientific officers and medical scientists forged strong bonds with each other at this platform to discuss future technologies and educational developments in areas of medical laboratory services in the ASEAN region. Diagnostic system manufacturers also set up exhibition booths to showcase their latest diagnostic instruments used for laboratory testing.

“It was a golden opportunity for us to engage with the medical diagnostic industry in ASEAN and understand the importance of the medical technologist profession in the healthcare sector. By attending such conferences, we are able to relate and integrate the knowledge learnt in SP into real-world situations, which enhances our learning experiences. Overall, it was a great and fun-filled event for both volunteers and participants alike.”
