Biomedical Medical Science student shares his internship experience

30 Jan 2020

Internship season is ending! Shaikh Mohamed Haady bin Shaikh Mohd Reza Mattar, a Diploma in Biomedical Science (DBS) student share his 22-week internship reflections!

"As a student from the Diploma in Biomedical Science, I wanted to experience what our field can offer outside of the laboratory. I chose to do my intern at the National Cancer Institute Singapore (NCIS), under the Haematology-Oncology Department in NUH. As a Clinical Research Co-ordinator, I was tasked to assist doctors in their research studies related to different types of blood cancers through recruiting patients and sample collection. I also look into the ethics, regulation and essential documents to ensure the research studies conducted abide by the laws set by MOH. The patient interaction during the recruitment process is what I love most about my internship. I get to meet new people everyday and even have the opportunity to observe other healthcare professionals in the hospital!”
