Biomedical Science students made an exceptional mark at the Young Scientists’ Symposium

The Diploma in Biomedical Science (DBS) students received prestigious awards at the Young Scientists’ Symposium (YSS) on 2 March 2023. The annual event was jointly organised by the Singapore Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SSBMB) and Singapore Science Centre to showcase the research work of polytechnic students with strong interest in research.

The DBS students' hard work and dedication paid off as they emerged as prize-winners in both the oral and poster presentation categories. Lai Jia Yan, a third year DBS student, impressed the audience and judges with her presentation titled "USP15 Inhibits ACCA and YAP to Suppress Breast Cancer" and was awarded the Merit Award (second-prize winner) in the Oral Presentation category.

Additionally, Isabelle Seah Zhixuan, Ong Jing Wen Angela, Lo Zi Yu, Kang Kuan Yang, and Tan Jun Feng Javier, all DBS students, secured four out of the ten Merit awards in the Poster category, further highlighting the exceptional quality of the DBS program.
