Diploma in Integrated Events and Project Management

Class of 2018

Cityneon Events Gold Medal

After 'N' Levels, I decided to take a different route from my friends and enrolled into the Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) in SP. PFP allowed me to understand the life of a polytechnic student better and adapt faster when I was in Year 1.

The Diploma in Integrated Events & Project Management allowed me to gain valuable experiences in planning and executing events. The adrenaline rush I received from managing events was what kept me going and the soft skills I learnt also kept me connected with the various events stakeholders. I am thankful for the opportunities made available to me, such as collaborating with Club Rainbow (Singapore) for a year-long module (Integrated Project), competing at the Taiwan MICE Destination Marketing Contest 2016 and serving my internship in an events company that allowed me to go to Phuket, Thailand and Lisbon, Portugal.

The GenEd programme during Year 1 and Year 2 broaden my views of the world. SPOT GenEd allowed my classmates and I to discuss about the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in different perspectives as we became delegates of our chosen country to fully immerse ourselves in a mock ASEAN conference. The Overseas Social Innovation Project to Cebu, Philippines, was a truly memorable experience due to the friendships forged with the students in SP and in Cebu Normal University. We came together as a team for two weeks and applied Design Thinking techniques to tackle the problems faced in Cebu Normal University.

I have always been passionate about doing community service. Joining the Youth Community Leader (YCL) also exposed me to various groups of beneficiaries locally and overseas. I went for a two weeks Overseas Community Service Project to Jin Tang County, Chengdu, China. It was an invigorating experience as I felt that I was constantly out of my comfort zone to learn more about the community and myself. Moving forward, I will be going to Shandong, China as a SP Alumni in June.

Overall, I am really grateful for all the local and overseas opportunities available! Thank You, SP!
