Diploma in Landscape Architecture

Class of 2016

National Parks Board Gold Medal

From young, I always liked appreciating how things revolve around us, especially understanding nature and ecology which I felt Diploma in Landscape Architecture in Singapore Poly was the right choice.

Life in Polytechnic was a memorable, joyful and interesting experience which one can experience. Packed with awesome tutors and friends, everyday kept getting better which made it unforgettable. One interesting experience DLA offered was that there was constant site visits where we got to learn about new things from another point of view, interacting with elements that elevated our vision from normal classroom settings. It was both fun and engaging.

In addition, I got to take part in overseas trip including an 8-day trip to Melbourne University, 4-day trip to Cameron Highland where I got to experience new environment, going on an exciting expedition, making new friends and studying new things.  It was another platform of experience to motivate me further. Another such event was the URA Cube challenge 2015/16 where we collaborated with other course mates to share our skills together with people in the industry.

Internship Programme was also another opportunity for me to experience being in a working industry. I gained plenty of knowledge and experience from doing projects ranging from small scale to big, local to overseas. Indeed it was difficult and exhausting but it allowed me to fully appreciate what I had learnt and undertaken in school, and it also broadened my vision in both critical thinking and experience. Interestingly, I got to experience being in a meeting with the company supplier, getting to know more about their product first-hand which was exciting.

At the heart of it, I had awesome tutors and friends who worked, played and cherished together in the most rewarding and memorable ways during my 3 years of academic journey in SP.
