The annual MICE Destination Marketing contest is held in conjunction with the 2015 Asian MICE Forum at the Taipei International Convention Centre. 22 institutes from 6 countries took part in this prestigious event to test their skills through promoting their selected city as an ideal destination to the MICE industry. The annual event is sponsored by the Taiwan Bureau of Foreign Trade and organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council. Singapore Polytechnic is the only non-university level institution to take part in the competition.

The team comprising of Kevin Goh Zhi Wei, Jee Shim Yi Florence, Koh Rui Ping Zoey, Ferry Maulana Bin Achmad Chean, Seah Wan Ting Vivian, Poon Xin Yi Denice together with their lecturer Mr Fan Ay Deng, clinched awards in 3 categories: 1st place for their English Marketing Presentation, 3rd place for both Marketing Strategy and Exhibition Booth Design. Singapore Polytechnic is also the first overseas institute to clinch awards in 3 of the 6 main categories.

"This contest proved to be an enriching experience for the team. We encountered many problems which allowed us to see the significance in planning. Despite hitting many rough patches throughout the planning process, I believe that we reacted to the obstacles ahead with confidence. Most importantly, we worked and bonded together well as a team. Overall, the entire competition was humbling and enlightening."

Kevin Goh, DEPM Year 3 Student

“This competition was very enriching for me as I was able to fully maximise my potential and apply the skills that I have learned in my course. It was a great opportunity for us to gain exposure and expand our network while interacting with people from different countries. All in all, the memories and bonds forged during this entire journey is one that I will always remember. I strongly recommend this programme to those who want to challenge themselves and step out of their comfort zone.”
