24 Aug 2016

Final year student Ang Hui Ling from the Diploma in Hotel & Leisure Facilities Management (DHLFM) who is currently undergoing her internship with Le Meridien Singapore, Sentosa, was selected to represent the hotel in the inaugural ‘Room Attendant of the Year Skills Competition’.

Jointly organised by the Association of Singapore Housekeepers and the Employment and Employability Institute, the competition which took place on 20 July 2016, which seeks to create awareness of the housekeeping profession in the hospitality industry, attracted participation from 23 leading hotels in Singapore.

The highlights for the competition segments were cleaning techniques, flower arrangement, WOW your guest (bed decoration) and handling difficult guest questions. During the competition, Hui Ling was assigned to participate in the WOW your guest and handling difficult guest question segments. She created a pair of swans for a wedding anniversary and she sailed through with the judges on the question handling. Hui Ling eventually clinched the 4th place in the competition, a remarkable result as she was the only student competing against industry experts.
