Singapore Polytechnic Dog Charity in Collaboration with Causes for Animals

03 Nov 2014

The Causes for Animals island-wide flag day is a charity event organised by 6 students from the Diploma in Integrated Events & Project Management (DEPM) in collaboration with Causes for Animals (CAS), as part of their integrated project in the second year of their studies.

The event is set to raise funds for the medical needs of stray and sheltered dogs, as well as create awareness for stray dogs in Singapore. The event took place on 7 September 2014 with student volunteers from various universities, polytechnics and secondary schools. A total amount of $16,000 was raised for the shelter.

During the project planning process, the DEPM students paid a visit to CAS’s shelter where they were given a brief introduction about the dogs’ living conditions and the goals of the shelter. It provided them with an understanding on the purpose of the upcoming event. The students also ran a few days of merchandise sales at Parkway Parade Shopping Center and within Singapore Polytechnic campus. They also managed to secure a NEWATER sponsorship for the event.

The students are grateful to all the volunteers who participated in this fundraising activity throughout the event, especially under the scorching hot weather. They hope that through this island-wide fund raising event, they are also able to help promote the act of kindness among Singaporeans, be it towards humans or animals.

‘We would like to show appreciation to our lecturer-in-charge, Mr Enzio, who has guided us and shared his experience on issues such as handling manpower distribution and unforeseen crowd management. Also to our partner, Causes for Animals (Singapore), for offering us this opportunity to do a part for the animals in-need. We are truly honoured to be part of this event and witnessing the passion from animal lovers.’
