The second year students from the Diploma in Hotel & Leisure Facilities Management (DHLFM) paid a visit to Tuas Waste-Energy Incineration Plant on 19, 20 and 22 July 2016 as part of their out-of-classroom learning for the module Environmental Management & Sustainability.
The objective of the visit is to gain insights into solid waste management in Singapore. The students were given a short briefing followed by a sight and smell tour. One of the students even had the opportunity to operate the crane to grab refuse from the bunker and dropped into the burner. It was an eye-opening and insightful trip for the students.
