Be In Harmony 2015 at Singapore Discovery Centre

05 Aug 2015

A group of 9 year two students from the Diploma in Integrated Events & Project Management (DEPM) collaborated with Singapore Discovery Centre on the conceptualisation and execution of ‘Be In Harmony’, an engaging public programme that took place on 29 November 2015.

Apart from encouraging family bonding, the aim of the programme was also to plan an event that contains National Education (NE) values to instil harmony and tolerance for other races and religion in Singapore through various activities and performances.

For this event, the students’ roles include conceptualising, planning, marketing, logistics, operation, execution and on-site management. The students created activities to fit the national messages. For example, the Arts & Crafts activity for the children were planned all in relation to the four major races in Singapore whereas the storytelling session covered on festivals celebrated by the major races in Singapore.

To spice up the event, the students also prepared a photo booth corner for families to get their pictures taken. They also invited the SP Malay Dance, SP Silat and UPBEATS from Westwood Secondary as performers for the event.

‘Be In Harmony 2015’ was definitely well-received judging from the crowd that responded. One of the students commented, “Having the chance to carry out this collaboration was indeed an opportunity to nurture our skills as well as an experience on how it is like working in the event industry.”
