The Materials Performance Centre houses four specially designed state-of-the art laboratories to provide authentic and skill based training in applied materials science. The Materials Innovation & Design Room provides
a conducive space for students to brainstorm, conceptualise and design innovative materials. It has 3D printers and other tools to support research and development. The Materials Formulation Laboratory has a range of facilities for
the formulation of coatings, elastomers and other polymeric materials. The Materials Prototyping Laboratory houses a wide range of equipment for the processing of polymers and elastomers e.g. integrated injection moulding, multi-layer
film extrusion, blown-film extrusion, twin-screw compounding, vacuum forming, compression moulding. The Materials Diagnostic Laboratory is well equipped for testing and characterisation of materials using e.g. tensile tester, differential
scanning calorimeter, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscope, scanning electron microscope, light scattering nanoparticle measurement. |
