Polytechnic students learnt about food processing and food safety in Thailand

Article featured SP’s School of Chemical & Life Sciences’ 12-day overseas immersion programme (OIP) to Thailand where 34 SP’s Diploma in Food Science & Technology (DFST) and Diploma in Health, Nutrition & Wellness (DHNW) students visited farms and factories of CP Group as well as a local university to learn more about food processing and food safety. Article also mentioned that this OIP is the second collaboration between SP and CP Group. SP’s DFST students Chua Chang Yang and Fan Jia Hui shared about the memorable lessons they gained from the OIP and how the hands-on experience helped them to better understand the concepts they have learnt in the classroom. SP’s DNHW student Lin Pei Yin commented that the OIP has exposed her to different career prospects as she discovered that her knowledge could be applied to food processing industry aside from the usual healthcare industry. SP’s DNHW senior lecturer Ms Choo Yang Sim also shared how the OIP enhances the curriculum.
