Foodtastic Cook Up

The Diploma in Food Science & Technology (DFST) Student Chapter organised a “Foodtastic Cook Up” challenge on 8 October 2021. The virtual cook-off challenge is aligned with the theme of World Food Day: “Safe Food for a Healthy Tomorrow”. Students were tasked to whip up dishes made from commonly wasted food ingredients such as apples, bread and potatoes. The challenge for the participants lies in the ability to utilise these ingredients fully to advocate food sustainability. Though the current COVID-19 pandemic had restricted students from tasting other participants’ dishes, they enjoyed learning the significance of World Food Day, the various food science reactions behind the food preparations involved, and more importantly, foster stronger friendships with one another through this meaningful event.
