From farm to fork

17 Oct 2018

It was an enriching experience to attend the Overseas Immersion Programme (OIP) to Thailand with my fellow course mates!

We visited various food factories in Bangkok and Pattaya. These factories produced different foods ranging from the famous MAMA noodles to the yogurt drink that we all love, Yakult. It was an eye opening experience to witness the mass production of different food products which are exported worldwide. We also visited the CP distribution centre where the food products were packaged to be delivered to all 7-11 outlets across Thailand. Apart from visiting food factories, we also visited the first agricultural university in Thailand, Kasetsart University, and the King Mongkut's University of Technology. We even tasted insect-fortified noodles and learnt about different equipment used in the industry.

Our visit to places such as the slaughter house, farms, warehouses and factories helped us to understand the processes and science behind different food products.
