CoC MEO Class 2 & 1 (MOTOR) Part B
COURSE AIMS

The CoC MEO Class 2 & 1 (MOTOR) Part B course will lead to the issue of CoC MEO Class 2 (MOTORSHIP), issued by the Maritime & Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore, upon successful completion of written examinations at SMA and oral examinations at MPA.

COURSE COMMENCEMENT

Registration for 16 OCT 2023 will commence from 15 AUG 2023

You are first required to apply online and obtain the Letter of Eligibility (LOE) from Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore (MPA)

COURSE FEE

The total course fees is S$11,214.72 (S$10,384.00 + GST S$830.72)(Subject to change)

 

Payment is done in two stages:


Stage I

a. Fill the application form and attach a copy of the MPA Letter of Eligibility with one recent  passport size photograph


Stage 2:

b. You are required to send a bank draft or a Singapore bank cheque, payable to SINGAPORE POLYTECHNIC, for course fees of S$11,214.72 * (Eleven Thousand Two Hundred and Fourteen and cents seventy-two only).

c. Name, passport number & course applied for has to be written on the back of the bank draft.  Please send draft to:

d. Upon confirmation of receipt of total fees, SMA will send you the SOLAR ID for student visa application.  It is COMPLUSORY for you to apply a student pass on line at the ICA (Immigration) website.  ICA  may not approve entry of candidates with tourist visa for study purpose.

- Medical Care Onboard (Fees: S$285 + 8% GST)*

- Advanced Fire-Fighting (Fees: S$550 + 8% GST)* **

- Shipboard Training and Assessment Course (Fees: S$600 + 8% GST)*

- CoC 1 & 2 Part A (Fees: S$940+ 8% GST )*, if not exempted

** All candidates who completed this course Class 5 Engineer CoC level will be exempted.

         
ORAL EXAMINATION & FEESTo be conducted at Shipping Division, MPA Fees: S$175/-* Singapore Dollar
SEA SERVICE REQUIREMENTS

The sea service requirement for MEO CoC Class 2 Oral Exam is at least 12 months (after CoC Class 5) of approved sea going service on board ships of main propulsion power of more than 3,000 KW as a senior watch keeping engineer in full charge of an engineering watch.

MA3017 Auxiliary Machinery
MA3018 Electro-technology & Electronics
MA3019 Electrical Engineering
MA3020 Control Engineering
MA3021 Safe Maintenance Operation & Fault Diagnostics
MA3022 Ship Construction & Naval Architecture
MA3023 Maritime Law & Personnel Management

Candidates must complete following modules at Part A Level at SMA, if not
exempted by MPA, Singapore

MA3024 Engineering Drawing & Design
MA3025 Applied Mathematics
MA3036 Applied Mechanics
MA3027 Applied Heat

 

Statement of Result (SOR) will be issued to the successful candidate when he passed all the modules for Part B and/or Part A written examination respectively.

REGISTRATIONCandidates need to forward a copy of current CoC, relevant pages of passport, and postal address together with application letter. We will post our application form along with other relevant information.

All original certificates (including short courses) and sea service records must be produced during enrolment for verification.
VENUESingapore Maritime Academy
VISA REQUIREMENTSCandidates from countries, as per website http://app.ica.gov.sg or attached list, are advised to obtain single entry visa for Singapore. SMA will assist in obtaining student visa upon successful registration & acceptance for the course.
BOARDING & LODGINGAccommodation is self-arranged. However, most students usually stay in budget hotels on arrival Singapore. When the course starts, they usually pool with their fellow classmates to look for rooms in the vicinity.
MEDICAL INSURANCE

Candidates are advised to take up medical insurance form their country of domicile for their stay in Singapore.

 

The coverage should include all medical/hospitalisation and also repatriation cost.

VISA FOR SPOUSE AND CHILDRENSMA will assist in visa application for candidates' spouse and children upon submission of air ticket and medical insurance for spouse & children.
