16 Dec 2020

Congratulations to our Diploma in Infocomm Security Management (DISM) year two students, for clinching the Champion title, in the PolyFinTech 100 API Hackathon 2020 Grand Finals!

Team leader Chloe Ong Wei Ting and members Wong Yik Leong and Chua Yi Le together with their lecturer Mr Samson Yeow beat over 60 teams of students from the five local polytechnics.

The aim of the hackathon was to develop Fintech prototypes using Open APIs from the industry to address real world problem statements. Chloe’s team, FLASHCASH, proposed to create an application which would grant users basic financial services such as loans, transfer, transactions and a basic e-commence platform.

Chloe shares, “The hackathon was a great learning opportunity. With the mentorship of the sponsoring industry partner, I learnt how to pitch our ideas and work on prototypes to help the unbanked population around Southeast Asia gain access to basic financial services. Winning the competition was a bonus!”
