Penetration testers want as much information about a network in a short time. However, present network scanners experience prolonged scan times on large networks due to inefficient methods. Our Project is a study of enhancing scan times through the introduction of heuristics and other methods by creating a tool to compare scan times using different parameters. These may decrease scan times substantially but may cause loss of accuracy, increased overhead, and potential detection from intrusion detection systems.
