In collaboration with the Workplace Safety and Health Council (WSHC), SP PACE Academy organised an inaugural forum on WSH Education held at SP on 7 October 2019. This forum aims to bring together academics from the different Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) in Singapore to share ideas and best practices in preparing their students to be safety conscious. This will augur well for them when they step into the world of work where WSH skills and knowledge will help to create a safe and healthy work environment.

Prior to the forum, there was a networking event where the academics and employers had the chance to tour around booths by the WSHC and SP PACE Academy. Mr John Ng, Chairman of WSHC, was the Guest-of-Honour for this forum. There were two invited keynote speakers, Ms Lilian Tan, Senior Vice President, Human Capital, SATS Limited and Professor Chia Kee Seng, Professor, Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, NUS & Member of WSHC, who shared topics on “Preparing for a Future-Ready Workforce that is also WSH-Ready” and “Total WSH: Towards “Valuing Health Just as Much as Wealth” respectively.

Following which, there were two panel discussions between the keynote speakers, our Special Guest, Mr Silas Sng, Divisional Director, Occupational Safety and Health Division; and Commissioner for Workplace Safety and Health, Ministry of Manpower, and representatives from the various IHLs. The main highlight of the panel discussions was on the sharing of best practices in WSH education in the local IHLs.
