Applied AI and Analytics students showcased their project at the Supercomputing Asia 2023 conference
09 Mar 2023
Four students from the Diploma in Applied AI and Analytics (DAAA) course showcased their "Third Eye: Bowling AI" project at the Supercomputing Asia 2023 conference. The project aimed to develop an AI system for measuring the performance of bowlers using videos taken at the bowling alley. The system uses deep learning and algorithms to extract skeletal positions from the videos, with training sped up by high-performance computing (HPC) GPU servers. The students hope that their project will demonstrate the potential of AI and HPC in enhancing sports performance and entertainment, and inspire young people to pursue a career in AI and analytics.
Since 2020, SP is the first polytechnic to offer a diploma level AI and analytics course, preparing students for careers in AI and analytics, and for the potential of AI and machine learning technology to solve real-world problems and enhance human experiences.
