Applied AI & Artificial Intelligence students won at the Splash Awards 2022

Two students, Rachel Tan and Pek Yi Chern, from the SP Diploma in Applied AI & Artificial Intelligence (DAAA),in collaboration with their counterpart from Temesek Polytechnic, won two awards: Challenge Track Award for AI in Sustainability, and 3rd place overall for Splash Awards 2022.

The Splash Awards is a national student tech innovation competition that challenges minds and inspire innovative solutions for infocomm in a fun and creative way. It is developed to give students experience in solving real life challenges and to prepare them for the industry, to encourage innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship through application development.

Team Leader Rachel Tan had the following to share with her experience:

“I am grateful for the meaningful opportunity to utilize AI skills to contribute towards sustainability in Singapore. The experience introduced me to a new area of computer vision and cybersecurity elements. My mentor's advice and feedback helped me improve my design thinking skills, allowing me to generate innovative solutions that improved the prototype. The competition gave me a better understanding of the real-world challenges faced in AI projects and I am now better prepared to tackle them.”
