Information Technology Project INC students revolutionise scrap steel trading with innovative technology

A team of Project INC students from the Diploma in Information Technology (DIT) course has created an innovative online platform for scrap steel trading. The platform, called SMEX, is a collaboration with the Singapore Iron Works Merchant Association (SIWMA) Metal Exchange. SMEX aims to facilitate the exchange of resources and materials among scrap steel traders, enhance resource efficiency, and improve operational performance. The project demonstrates SP’s commitment to supporting sustainability through technological solutions for the industry. The project was also featured in BEX Asia 2023 or Built Environment XPO Asia 2023, a leading market intelligence platform that connects innovators, solution providers, distributors and sellers with decision makers, buyers and specifiers across Asia.
