The Apple SwiftUI Nano Academy Experience for Information Technology students

23 Oct 2023

From September 4th to 8th, 2023, 23 students from the Diploma in Information Technology (DIT) course delved into the transformative Apple SwiftUI Nano Academy program. Guided by a dynamic team of 12 mentors hailing from the Apple Swift Developer Academy, Singapore University of Technology and Design, and Singapore Polytechnic, School of Computing, this initiative marked a remarkable educational journey.

"The Apple SwiftUI Nano Academy program provides both students and educators with a unique glimpse into a Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) environment, where the emphasis is placed on active student participation in shaping their own educational experiences," remarked George Ananda, an Apple Professional Learning Specialist associated with the Academy. "During its inaugural run in Singapore, I was profoundly impressed by the boundless enthusiasm and ingenuity demonstrated by the participating students."

Leveraging Apple's App Development with Swift curriculum, this 5-day program empowered students to swiftly master problem-solving skills, fundamental app design principles, and development knowledge. The pinnacle of this adventure culminated in a presentation at the prestigious Apple HQ, where students showcased their apps to the Apple App Development team. This experience not only fostered collaboration but also honed their communication skills through platforms like GitHub and Notion.
