YOUNG ENGINEER AWARD (YEA)
This award is ONLY exclusive in Singapore Polytechnic, School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE),and School of Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering (MAE)
The objective of YEA is to create a platform for secondary
school students:
- To appreciate the link between science and engineering.
- To self-discover and arouse their interest and curiosity in Science & Engineering.
- To allow outstanding youths who have displayed a passion for STEM, in particular, Engineering, to be recognized.
- To spot talents in engineering and attract them to join engineering courses at Singapore Polytechnic (SP).
YEA Certification
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between
Science Centre Singapore and Singapore Polytechnic in 2016 and renewed in 2019, to incorporate YEA
certification into
STEM Inc Applied Learning Programme (ALP). YEA certification is administered by SP Engineering Cluster.
Students who have completed their Secondary 1 and 2 STEM ALP – Tier 1 programmes, with a minimum of 70% attendance, can apply for the YEA (Applied Learning) award.
Students who have completed only either their Secondary 1 or Sec 2 STEM ALP Tier 1 will not be eligible for the YEA (Applied Learning) award.
YEA (Achievement) is a stand-alone award, i.e. students need not have been awarded the YEA (Applied Learning) in order to attain the
YEA (Achievement).
Only outstanding students of each Tier 2 competition/programme organized by SP and Science Centre Singapore (SCS) will be considered for the YEA (Achievement) award.
A new pathway to attain the YEA (Achievement) award, based on the School Principal’s recommendation, will be introduced. Each school can nominate up to 3 students for the YEA (Achievement) award each year. Nominated students should be sitting for
their O-Levels in the year following the application, and have expressed interest to apply for SP-EEE or SP-MAE courses through the EAE pathway.

YEA (Applied Learning)
Application will no longer be done through email.
To apply for this award, please do the following:
1. Download the Excel form from this link > YEA (Applied Learning) Application Form, and fill in the data required for the application.
2. Upload and submit the completed Excel form via this link >https://tinyurl.com/YEA-AL-Application
Application deadline is 15th November of each year. The certificates of successful applicants will be delivered to the respective schools in Term 1 of the following year.
YEA (Achievement)
There are 2 ways to attain YEA (Achievement) award.
1.
Via Tier 2 Competitions/Programmes
Singapore Polytechnic (SP) and Science Centre Singapore (SCS) will give this award to deserving participants directly hence no application is required. Please refer to the list of competitions/programmes organised by SP and SCS that are eligible for this award. Awardees will be notified via their teachers by Singapore Polytechnic in Term 1 of the following year after the competitions/programmes.
2. Via Principal’s Recommendation
Each school principal can recommend up to 3 students each year for this award. Recommended students should be taking their O-Levels in the year following the application, and have expressed interest to apply for SP Engineering courses through the EAE
pathway.
