FACILITIES UNDER MS

The School of Mathematics & Science has several facilities to support teaching and learning:

Learning (Physics) Laboratories @ T723, T724 and T725

MS has three learning laboratories that support the Physics and Engineering & Technology Project modules of the Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP). These laboratories provide students with the space and equipment to conduct physics experiments, engineering projects and to participate in demonstrations. Through these hands-on activities, the students discover physics concepts in an engaging and interactive manner, broaden their knowledge and develop critical thinking skills.

 Learning Lab1

The design and layout of the laboratories encourage collaborative learning. Each bench has four seats arranged in a square which facilitates discussion among students. The lecturer can easily walk around the classroom to observe students and facilitate learning.

In order to effectively integrate IT into teaching, each lab is equipped with three projectors. Each desk has laptop power points and video inputs for the students to showcase their work to the rest of the class. Internet access is also readily available. iPads are also used in some experiments and demonstrations.

 Learning Lab2

Up-to-date equipment, components and apparatus are readily available for use in projects, to ensure that experiments and demonstrations are effective and pedagogically sound. The collection of equipment also includes everyday items to emphasize the relevance of physics to daily life. Safety equipment is also available to minimize the risk of injury.

Learning Space @ T434

There are 3 consultation rooms (i.e. AlphaBeta and Gamma rooms) to provide learning space for students to consult teaching staff for project discussions or remedial lessons. Alpha room also serve as a hot-desk working area for adjunct lecturers.

Alpha Room    TRU

In addition, Learning Space @ MS is furnished with teaching resources unit and social space to provide complimentary teaching aids, facilitate staff interaction and exchange of ideas.

Development Laboratory @ T722

T22-1   T22-2

The development laboratory provides a space for staff to brainstorm, design, construct and develop experiments or activities related to teaching and research. The laboratory is equipped with a 3D-printer, Arduino kits and other tools to support research and development. It also consists of multiple wall partitions, movable tables and chairs to facilitate small group discussions. There are also display cabinets to showcase 3D models and projects.

DevLab @ T1A38

DevLab1    DevLab2

The DevLab provides a space for the interns to brainstorm, design, construct and develop experiments or activities related to data science and analytics. The laboratory is equipped with movable tables and chairs to facilitate project planning and development. Completed projects will also be showcased at different stations within the DevLab where users can learn and experience through the mini learning journey.

AICoLab @ T1A310

AICoLab3     AICoLab1

The AICoLab provides a space for staff and guests from the industry to discuss and collaborate on data analytics and AI related projects. The lab is equipped with CCTVs and 5 Smart TVs to support the projects and activities. It also consists of multiple wall partitions, fixed tables and movable chairs to facilitate small group discussions.
