Teaching and Learning

In MS, teaching & learning lies at the heart of what we do. We innovate so as to teach better for our students to learn better. Flipped classroom, which started as an action research, is now a dominant pedagogy that is adopted in many of our modules. LearningANTS, which incorporates learning analytics, is another technological tool that was borne out of our educational research efforts. MS’s T&L approaches are in alignment with SP’s T&L key focus areas, namely, Analytics in Education, Data Enabled Flipped Learning with ALERT, Asynchronous Lectures and Building Teamwork Skills.

T&L1

As we innovate in our pedagogies and tools, we remain committed to our goal of building a strong foundation in mathematics and science in our students. We design our modules according to the mathematical and scientific thinking framework so as to develop our students’ mathematical and scientific thinking skills; engaging students in challenging science concepts by incorporating the Predict-Observe-Explain strategy in the lessons. In today’s world where data and statistics are becoming increasingly prevalent, we also enhance our students’ statistical literacy through the statistical literacy project. The Common Core Curriculum (CCC) is designed to prepare students for a disruptive world that is ever-changing with sustainability as the intended outcome that we aim for students to be acutely aware of (Click here for more information about CCC).
