EEE team won 3 prizes at Siemens – This is Industrial Edge 2023 competition

 EEE team won three prizes at the Siemens – This is Industrial Edge 2023 competition. Their aquaponics industrial edge solution named “Aqua-Life” clinched the three special prizes, the Social Engagement Award, the Big Idea Award, and the Siemens Choice Award (voting by Siemens employees) on 29 Sep 2023, amid competition from universities and other polytechnics.

The competition aimed to foster a higher level of technical excellence among tertiary students. Teams were required to present their solutions incorporating the use of industrial edge to solve real-world problems in a sustainable manner. The winning team from EEE leveraged industrial edge system to run a vertical aquaponic farm with an Advanced AI Monitoring and Regulation system. The system enabled remote farm monitoring via mobile devices, real-time plant health tracking; and incorporated solar panels for sustainable energy. Hence, besides reducing cost, latency and security risks, this makes for an eco-friendly and highly efficient indoor farming system.
