SP-Advantest Test Engineering Centre launched

The opening ceremony of the SP-Advantest Test Engineering Centre (“Centre”) was held on 30 Jun 22 at the Singapore Polytechnic Convention Centre. The event was graced by Ms Gan Siow Hung, Minister of State (MOS) for Education and Manpower. Mr Yoshiaki Yoshida, President and CEO, and Mr Yasuo Mihashi, Senior Executive Officer, of Advantest Corporation specially flew in from Japan to attend the ceremony. The event was also attended by industry guests from leading semiconductor companies such as STMicroelectronics, UTAC, AMD, ASE, Stats ChipPAC, Intel, Qualcom, ams OSRAM, Marvell, Mediatek, SSIA, SSG, SEMI, Infineon, Skyworks, ASTAR, EDB, etc.

The event included a tour of the Centre which is equipped with Advantest’s state-of-the-art semiconductor test equipment such as the V93000 SoC Test System and the M4841 Dynamic Test Handler.  The Centre will provide students and adult learners with access to Advantest’s leading edge technologies and hands-on experience with semiconductor testing.  Advantest industry experts will also provide practical learning opportunities using real-life scenarios and applications.

Following tour of the Centre, the guests proceeded to the info wall that was created jointly by SP and SSIA. MOS Gan witnessed the unveiling of the info wall by Ms Georgina Phua, Deputy Principal (Dev) and Ms Jennifer Teong, SSIA Board member. The info wall showcases the semiconductor ecosystem in Singapore and serves as a learning journey for students, visitors and the public to educate them on the important role of the semiconductor industry in Singapore.  

The collaboration with Advantest is part of Singapore Polytechnic’s industry co-location initiative, to bridge the gap between industry and academia. SP staff and learners can gain access to the latest industry technologies and practices through partnerships with leading industry players like Advantest. This prepares SP learners to be life ready, work ready and world ready for the new economy.
